Funeral Service in NJ

Are you looking for funeral service in NJ? Bergen Funeral Service has been providing funeral service in NJ for over 50 years.

How to plan for your funeral

These days, pre-planning your own funeral is beginning to become a thing. In all fairness, there are some merits to it. For one, it outs your wishes in writing and can help you get peace of mind that your funeral will be handled just the way you like it. At the same time, you also get to provide convenience and ease for your family members; instead of guessing or arguing about what they believe should be the order of your funeral service, you’ll be providing pointers and removing any confusion.

However, there are also a few things you’ll need to put in place:

The location and type of service

Where would you like to be buried? At a Church cemetery or a family cemetery? Would you like for your remains to be scattered somewhere in mind or would you like to be cremated? Things like these will need to be answered.

You’ll also have to consider the type of funeral service. Tell your family if you’ll want to have many people there, or if you just want a few people to make things more intimate

The attendees

Not so important, but if you want to, then there’s no reason why not. If you want a public gathering, then pretty much everyone is invited. However, if you want something private and small, then you could write down a list of few people who you want at your funeral. Of course, feel free to give a little space for your family members to add a few names as well.

Your outfit

There’s no reason why you shouldn’t have a say concerning the jewelry and clothes that you’ll like to be buried in. What would you like to be buried with? A photo? An official uniform that you used to wear in your work days (especially for people in the military)? Etc.

Who should speak

If you have an officiant or a facilitator in mind, then let your family know. Let them know who should deliver the eulogy and who should be allowed to just say some words.

Memorial fund

Instead of bringing flowers, you could just ask people to donate to a special fund that you can then give to charity or some other noble cause. Most times, the family will ask for funds to be given to the hospital that helped them take care of their deceased loved one or some charity organization they worked with while they were alive.

The obituary

Choose the picture(s) that you’ll like to be included in your obituary as well. Provide details that should be there- your name, date of birth, employment and education, etc.
