Queens NY Cremation Service

The current state of the economy has led to an increasing number of people choosing cremation services in Queens, NY. Cremation is a long-standing tradition that remains unchanged. What is done before and after the cremation process is decided by you, or your survivors. The process allows for you to pre-plan your arrangements so that your wishes are honored. This also allows for more options after the cremation process. At Bergen Funeral Services our Queens, NY cremation services include:
  • Direct Cremation – This includes the local transfer of your remains from place of death to the funeral home, your chosen cremation container, securing and filing of all paperwork.
  • Cremation with full visitation and ceremony – The process is the same as direct cremation, but with a full service and ceremony for the bereaved.
  • Scattering – Your remains may be scattered freely within a dedicated, natural environment. Always check with local regulations before deciding on a location.
  • Traditional burial – The urn may still be buried if your family has a plot.

At Bergen Funeral Service, we are here to guide you through making this decision. It is our goal to oversee every detail with dignity and respect. We understand the importance of caring for each other and are always mindful of this.

How to Plan a Funeral

Funeral directors can be a tremendous help when it comes to planning a funeral for a loved one who has passed away. From helping you through the mourning process to completing all of the necessary arrangements, funeral directors will be there for you every step of the way.

After a loved one passes, it is important to meet with your family members to discuss the deceased’s wishes. This often includes the type of ceremony, location and type of burial that the deceased wanted.

There are funeral homes that can perform many different religious ceremonies and traditions. That way, the deceased can be honored under the proper customs. Depending on what type of religion the deceased followed, the funeral ceremony can be held in a variety of locations.

There are also different types of burial services, which include traditional, graveside and immediate burial services, as well as complete and immediate cremation, paired with scattering or traditional burial services.

The family also needs to choose music, if any, as well as someone to conduct the funeral services and someone to read the eulogy. An obituary should also be written for the local newspaper.

Traditionally, people will send flowers when someone passes away. If the deceased noted that he or she would rather have donations made in their name in lieu of flowers, this can be noted in the obituary.

Consulting with directors from a funeral home, families can sort out the details of the ceremony. If the deceased did not leave behind instructions for how he or she wanted things to be planned, the decisions are typically up to the family members.

The last major planning step is to coordinate a way to transport the casket from the funeral home, to the funeral, to the burial site, or to a crematory. This can be discussed with the funeral directors from the funeral home that you choose.

If you are currently going through a death in the family and are searching for a funeral home, Bergen Funeral Service Inc. is a funeral home in Brooklyn that can help you plan a funeral and cope with your loss during this difficult time.

How to Choose a Funeral Home

The first time a loved one passes away in your family, the process of planning a viewing, burial or cremation can be extremely overwhelming. Funeral homes are staffed with professional funeral directors who can help families get through this difficult time period.

If you and your family are searching for a funeral home for the first time, you are going to want to find one that can service all of your requests. Some important considerations to think about include:
  • Will the funeral home be able to accommodate the deceased's religious beliefs?
  • Is there a chapel or other place of worship that the funeral home has on its premises?
  • Does the funeral home offer viewings, burials and cremation services?
  • If my loved one passed away far from home, can the funeral home do anything to help?
  • Funeral services can be very expensive. Are the prices the funeral home offers reasonable?
  • Are the facilities large enough to accommodate my loved one's family and friends?

This list of questions are just some of the things that families should be asking themselves when they are planning services for the deceased.

Funeral Shipping Service Company

When a loved one passes away in a foreign land or state, finding a funeral shipping service company that has experience is important. Whether you need to arrange the move of the deceased across the United States, or return them to their country of origin, the added issue of transporting is a dilemma in making funeral arrangements.

These days transporting human remains internationally or domestically is often tied up in red tape. A bereaved family often doesn't know where to start in this planning process and may rely on a local funeral home, which may not have the experience with the complexity of the situation. The results are often unnecessary and overly expensive. Taking time to understand the protocols and terminology used in funeral shipping will make you more informed and provide you with more control in the process.

A funeral shipping service company, such as Bergen Funeral Service, will coordinate everything on your behalf and with knowledge and expertise. Bergen Funeral Service can guarantee the safe and dignified transportation of your loved one. Bergen Funeral Service's Known Shipper status with the TSA allows them to bypass most airport delays that other funeral shipping services may encounter.
